Seeing things in a new light | also more KOODING!

Hello Hello Hello!

I am so eager to finally be writing again for the first time this new year! I have so many plans for 2018 and it only goes to show what hustle and hard work can do for you. I just finished up the "Chill Vibes" meet that I hosted at The Modern Fort Worth Art Museum on January 7th and it was so inspiring to see so many creatives that don't know each other gather together in one room (I guess multiple plus exhibits LOL) and just create. The Dallas photography community has so many hidden gems to offer and I'm slowly getting to find them all through these meet-ups and events. Over 115 individuals came out and it was just exhilarating to have created this event. You can find the event page and a promotional video from it here.

The meet-up wasn't the only thing that kicked off the new year for me, I also held a showcase for RAW Artists: Dallas! I displayed 14 pieces, some never seen prior, and 2 larger pieces that I hold dear from Ukraine. I hope that this is only the start of my entry to the world of gallery showcasing!

Since I have been doing more meetings with brands and potential clients, I've upped my wardrobe significantly. My outfits are becoming more business casual, without risking the feminine cute factors. KOODING has been my go-to personal stylist for this, as all their clothing is geared for the soft outlook I'm going for with the fashion statement I need. I ordered more clothing last month and styled them on Joanne for a day at the Nasher Sculpture Center. One of my favorite parts of this outfit is how you can wear it to a gallery or to the grocery store and both are perfectly acceptable (not that it matters) and still fit the look. 

I also created my own indoor studio as of late, even though I haven't moved into my new apartment yet, and I decided to test it out on one of my cosplay models, Hanna. It turned out so cute and bright that we even snuck in some shots for my favorite Japanese beverage company Kirin! Both the dress and the skirt are so soft and flowy you can't help but get an airy vibe from wearing it. So excited to continue creating with KOODING in 2018.

After a LONG semester, I'm back with updates! I say that I'm back, but I'm only slowing getting back into the groove of things. I spent the latter half of this month completing multiple 15-page Russian essays, Korean presentations and just doing work in general. Not to mention I have a Yelp Fort Worth event to prepare for yet I am here -- blogging. But with all that behind me, I am excited to venture off into some updates as well as an extra special post covering one of my latest partnerships! 

Update-Wise, I still am selling tickets to my showcase next month (January 11th) with RAW Artists where you can join me and other Dallas creatives as we share our work in our own exhibits! I haven't put together my outfit quite yet, but I've been spending an awfully long time on KOODING's website and it's safe to say my outfit will most likely be coming out of a box shipped from their site. I posted a few of my recent shoot with Jessica in some of their adorable gear, but here are a few to accentuate my favorite pieces:

You can visit their website to see more of the looks, but I personally love taking this style to a cafe like Mango Mango or Cafe Brown Sugar. The elongated partial Hanbok style is beautiful to me and allows for a cute look when pairing with sneaks, or sophisticated when you dress it with flats. I always rant about how I wish the States could be more like the rest of the world, where you aren't frowned upon for dressing up to random locations. When I was in Japan and Korea, everyone (not just women) would dress up just to go shopping, and it was normalized to a point where even those dressed up in Lolita attire weren't stared at. One of the reasons I love KOODING so much is that all their styles have that Asia vibe coming from them, which is something I incorporate in my day to day fashion. The clothes are soft, durable and make me feel business casual 24/7. I tried to go to the opera when I turned 20 (feels like forever ago now..) and just wanted to use it as an excuse to get dressed nice and feel great, but even at the opera, Dallas natives were decked out in a mere blouse and jeans. When I'm wearing these clothes I feel like I'm back in Asia where it's okay to dress fancy and of a different nature than the typical casual gear. I guess all in all the moral of the story is don't be afraid to dress nice, even if it means just taking your new threads to a cafe in Carrollton.

I have had the busiest week shooting every day possible and delegating decent study time. I have been working a decent amount to prep for my upcoming New York Trip and my other Yelp Fort Worth events~ I recently started collaborating with KORElimited and Perverse Sunglasses! I'll attach some shots above & below but most can be found in the Michelle and Nora albums.

In other news, I was featured in an article for Study Breaks Magazine! They wrote a beautiful piece on my upbringing around Cameras and my attachment to Film photography. Even after working so much with my digital gear I still surrender to Film as my best medium. Hopefully there is only up from here.
